Early this morning before I finally laid down to sleep, I sent an email off to a buddy of mine at the FBI. I thought about doing this awhile back, but now with everything going on with Hadley, I need to know asap. I asked him to find out everything he could about Roberts hoping he could give me something, anything I could use to take care of this problem. Keeping my girls safe is the only thing that matters to me.

Hadley surprises me when she reaches out and hugs me around my middle, resting her head against my chest. “As long as we’re safe I can give you as long as you need. Thank God you were at Wally’s last night. I don’t know where we’d be if you weren’t.”

Wrapping my arms around her back, I hold her tight. “I know you would have done everything in your power to protect Coral, but everyone needs someone in their corner they can rely on. I’m in your corner now, for as long as you’ll have me.”

I almost don’t catch her soft gasp as she squeezes me tighter. She’s one hell of a woman and I’m learning everything I thought I knew about her pales in comparison to the woman I’m holding in my arms. She’s so much more than I thought.

“Momma,” Coral calls from the other room, interrupting our moment.

Hadley pulls away and blushes as she looks up at me. “I better go check on her before she gets into something she shouldn’t.”

I finally have her in my arms and the last thing I want to do is let her go, but I nod and drop my hands from around her so she can go to her daughter. I can’t help but stare at her perfectly round ass in the tight leggings she’s got on. Jesus, I need to get ahold of myself before I do something she isn’t ready for. Hell, she was attacked last night. The last thing she needs is to think I’m only helping her to get in between her thick luscious thighs. I want a hell of a lot more from her than that.

I spend the rest of the morning into the afternoon making sure no one knows where to find us. I call my commanding officer and request the next week off of work. At first he tells me no, but by the end of the conversation he grants me my time off. Most people in Merrick have been to Wally’s at least a few times and know who Hadley is. When I told him she’s in trouble and I need to figure out how to fix it he told me I have his full support. He even offered to help in any legal way he could. If my buddy isn’t able to come through for me at the FBI, I’ll be taking him up on that offer.
